About Melta

Melta builds and operates complete digital products from a plain-language description. It is built and run from Grabs in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, Switzerland, and was founded by Stefan Laggner. On this page you read what we believe, what Melta is and is not, and how we work with the first customers in early access.

What we believe

Three convictions brought Melta into being.

A good product should not require a technical co-founder

Whoever has an idea and knows the people it is meant for should be able to make it real without hunting for a developer or raising a five-figure agency budget. The starting point is a description in your own words, not code.

Whoever runs a product should own it

Your product runs under your name, sells as your product, and the payouts go to your bank account. Your customers see you as the provider, not us. You own what runs.

Building and running belong together

A product is not finished when it is built. It needs hosting, payments, email, legal pages, a support inbox, error monitoring and analytics, and it needs someone to make changes. That is why both are part of the plan at Melta.

What Melta is - and what it is not

Melta is a platform that turns a plain-language description into a complete digital product: a web app, a SaaS, a portal, a shop. You describe what you want, Melta writes a concept, and once you approve it, Melta builds the entire product: interface, logic, accounts, database, payments, email and legal pages. You test it in a private preview, put it live and change it by chat afterwards.

Just as important is what Melta is not:

Where Melta is made

Melta is built and run from Grabs in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, Switzerland. Stefan Laggner founded it. That shapes the platform: it is made for Switzerland, Germany and Austria, with legal pages that fit these three countries, and with an interface in German and English. Your product is built in the language of your idea, German or English.

The products are hosted on a globally distributed network, each with its own isolated database. There is no server for you to manage.

How we work with customers in early access

Melta is in early access. There is a waitlist, and we invite from it as places open up. We do not promise a date for that. Whoever is in gets the full flow:

  1. Describe - You tell us in your own words what your product should do. Melta asks at most four clarifying questions, none of them technical.
  2. Read the concept - The concept is written in plain language and costs only a few credits. You revise it in the chat until it fits.
  3. Have it built - With your approval the build starts, paid from the credits of your plan. Melta builds the whole product, typically within 24 hours. You get an email when it is done.
  4. Test - The private preview comes seeded with demo data and named test logins. You walk through purchases with test data, and no real money moves.
  5. Go live and keep building - Going live takes seconds, and a rollback to the previous version is possible. After that you write changes as a chat message, watch the editor work and deploy them to the preview or live. Change runs are included in every plan.

In early access the path to us is short. What you report back flows straight into the platform, and if something does not work, we want to know. Write to hello@melta.ai.

Our principles

No hidden fees

Everything Melta costs is on the pricing page. The share of your sales and the card processing are deducted at the moment of payment and never invoiced separately. If you sell nothing, no share is due.

No invented numbers

You will not find user counts, revenue figures or percentages here that we cannot back up. We call our example products example products, and we do not quote metrics from them.

Prices are published

There is no quote on request for what everyone needs. The credit prices and the plans are published and the same for everyone. Only Enterprise is agreed individually.

You own what runs

Your product runs under your name, on your own domain if you want one, and with payouts to your account. Melta operates it, but it is yours.

What it costs

A concept uses only a few credits; afterwards your product runs on a plan per organisation with credits every month. All numbers and how the price is made up are on the pricing page.

How to reach us
