Features
Preview and live: included in every Melta product
For anyone who wants to put their product through its paces before anyone else sees it. Every Melta product has two environments with separate data: a private preview seeded with demo data and test logins, and the live version for your customers. Every build and every change lands in the preview first; only what you have checked goes live.
What you get
A private preview
Only you see it. Every build and every change from the chat lands here first, never in front of your customers. The preview has its own data, cleanly separated from live.
Demo data and test logins
The preview comes seeded from the start: sample records and named test logins, listed on a test-access page. Test purchases run on test data, with no real money involved. You can re-seed it whenever you like.
Go live in seconds
Going live copies the checked version to the live environment. Nothing is rebuilt, so there is no waiting. Before that, Melta checks that your operator details are complete and, if your product sells something, that the payout account is connected.
Data carry-over and rollback
When you go live, you choose which types of data to carry over from the preview; they are merged into live. If a live version does not work out, you go back to the previous one.
How it works
From your side, a cycle looks like this, for the first build and for every change after it:
- Land in the preview - When the build finishes or a change from the chat completes, the result is waiting in the preview. Your product's header shows you whether the preview is ahead of the live version.
- Test with demo data - You open the test-access page, sign in with one of the test logins and click through: create an account, edit entries, walk through a purchase with test data. No real money moves. If the demo data gets messy, you re-seed the preview.
- Go live - You hit go live. Melta first checks that your operator details are complete and, if the product sells something, that the payout account is connected. If something is missing, Melta tells you what to add.
- Carry over data - You choose which kinds of data to carry over from the preview, for example content you created there. They are merged with the live data by type; whatever you do not choose does not come along.
- Check, and go back if needed - The tested version runs live in seconds, without a rebuild. If you notice afterwards that something is off, you roll back to the previous live version and fix it in the preview.
Who this matters for
Two environments sound technical, but above all they mean peace of mind. Three situations where they make the difference:
Anyone who sells something
With a product that sells one-time purchases or subscriptions, you want to walk the whole path once: pick an offer, pay, see the unlock. In the preview you can do that with test data, and no money moves. Before the product goes live and takes real money, Melta checks that your payout account is connected. The details are on the payments page.
Anyone who offers appointments or classes
With a booking system you want to see how a booking feels before the first customer makes one. With the demo data and a test login you can play that through in the preview. An example product of this kind is SOMA Yoga Zürich, a studio with a class schedule and subscriptions.
Anyone already working with the product
Once your day-to-day business tool is live, it holds real data. Every change you start in the chat editor still lands in the preview first; the live data stays untouched until you go live. And if something does go wrong: back to the previous version.
What it costs
A concept uses only a few credits; afterwards your product runs on a plan per organisation with credits every month. All numbers and how the price is made up are on the pricing page.
Common questions
Who can see the preview?
Only you. The preview is private and not reachable by your customers. It has its own data, separate from the live version, and comes seeded with demo records and named test logins that you find on the test-access page.
Does the product have to be rebuilt when I go live?
No. Going live copies the version you checked in the preview to the live environment in seconds. Before that, Melta only checks that your operator details are complete and, if your product sells something, that the payout account is connected.
What happens to the preview data when I go live?
You decide. On go-live you choose which data types to carry over from the preview; they are merged with the live data. Whatever you do not choose does not come along.
Can I undo a go-live?
Yes. You can roll back to the previous live version. Then you fix the issue in the preview and go live again when it is right.
Can I reset the demo data in the preview?
Yes. The preview can be re-seeded at any time. Fresh demo data and the test logins are then ready again, and test purchases still run without real money.
Test first, then go live. Melta does the rest.
A concept uses only a few credits. Once you approve it, the build starts, and you check the result in your private preview before anyone else sees it.
