Build a job board with Melta - listings, employer accounts and applications in one product
For founders, associations, trade media and people who know their industry and want to run a job board for exactly that niche: care professions in one region, the trades, hospitality, a professional association. You describe who posts, who searches and what a listing costs. Melta builds the product, puts it online and runs it for you.
What a product like this can do
A job board has two sides and an operator. Employers create listings and pay for them, job seekers filter, read and apply, and you make sure only fitting listings appear. These building blocks come with it:
Employer accounts
Employers register, confirm their email address and maintain a company profile with logo, description and location. They see their listings, their remaining duration and the applications that came in, all in one place. Applicants, employers and admin are separate roles.
Listings with fields and filters
Every listing has a title, location, workload, employment type, job family and the attributes that matter in your industry, such as shift work, apprenticeship or remote. Job seekers narrow down by region, workload and job family.
Applications by form
Name, contact details and a message right on the listing. The application is sent by email to the employer under the name of your job board, and the employer gets back to the candidate directly. Whether applicants need an account is your call in the concept.
Paid listings
A single listing as a one-time purchase, a bundle of listings, or a subscription for employers who hire all the time. Payment happens inside the product, your job board appears as the merchant, and the payout goes to your bank account.
Featured listings
At the top of the list, on the home page or marked in the search results. Employers book the highlight as an add-on to a listing, for a limited time, paid right inside the product.
Duration and expiry
Every listing runs for a fixed time, for example 30 days. After that it disappears from search and list, stays in the employer's account and can be renewed. If the concept calls for it, a reminder email goes out before the listing expires.
Approval by you
An admin area for the operator: review new employers and listings, approve or reject them, block accounts, maintain job families and regions, see which packages are booked.
How your job board earns money
At Melta your customers pay inside the product, your portal appears as the merchant, and the payouts go to your bank account. With a job board this is simple, because only one side pays: the employers. For job seekers the portal stays free, which is what they expect. Four models that can be described in a few sentences:
| Model | Who pays | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Single listing | Employers | A one-time purchase per listing and duration. Unpaid listings stay drafts and do not appear. |
| Listing bundle | Employers | Several listings bought in advance and used one by one, cheaper than buying them individually. |
| Employer subscription | Employers | Monthly or yearly for continuous posting, ideally in tiers: Basic with one active listing, Pro with five listings and the company profile at the top of the list. |
| Featured placement | Employers | A one-time purchase as an add-on to a listing: one week or one month at the top of the list and on the home page. |
How Melta builds it
- Describe - You say in your own words which industry or region the job board is for, what a listing contains, how someone applies, whether you review listings first and what employers pay for.
- Questions and concept - Melta asks up to four questions, none of them technical, and writes a concept in plain language from your answers: roles, pages, fields, payment model. You change it by chat until it fits.
- Approve and build - When you click Build, the build starts, paid from the credits of your plan. Melta builds the whole job board: interface, logic, accounts, database, payments, email and legal pages, typically within 24 hours. You get an email when it is done.
- Test the preview - The private preview comes seeded with demo data and named test logins for every role. You create a listing as an employer and pay for it with test data, approve it as admin, find it as a job seeker through the filters and send an application. No real money moves.
- Go live - In seconds, with no rebuild. Before that Melta checks that your operator details for the imprint are complete and, because your job board sells something, that the payout account is connected. You choose which data from the preview comes along. Rolling back to the previous live version is possible.
- Change by chat - A new job family, a field for the salary range, a longer duration for apprenticeships: you write it to your product's editor, watch it work, can step in, and the preview updates live. Change runs are included in every plan.
A related example product
Melta has not built a job board as an example product yet. The closest is Steigwärts, a via ferrata directory for Vorarlberg: entries with structured fields, search and filters, reports from the community and yearly packages for sponsors from the region. At its core that is the same pattern as a job board: entries that someone pays for to be seen, and visitors who search for free. See also Directory and industry portal. See the example product Steigwärts
What comes with it
A job board needs more than listings and a search, and at Melta the rest is part of the plan: payment processing for single listings, bundles and subscriptions without your own contract with a payment provider, transactional email under the name of your job board with receipts attached, a melta.ai subdomain or your own domain, the legal pages (imprint, privacy policy and terms) generated from your operator details for Switzerland, Germany and Austria (general information, not legal advice), cookieless analytics with a funnel from visit to purchase and revenue per source, a support inbox that sorts requests from employers and applicants automatically, error monitoring, protection against spam on logins and forms, and hosting on a globally distributed network with no server for you to manage.
What it costs
A concept uses only a few credits; afterwards your product runs on a plan per organisation with credits every month. All numbers and how the price is made up are on the pricing page.
Common questions
Has Melta already built a job board?
Not yet as an example product. The closest is Steigwärts, a via ferrata directory with structured entries, filters and yearly packages for sponsors from the region. The building blocks of a job board - accounts, roles, entries with an expiry, payments and email - are the same ones that go into every Melta product.
How do candidates apply?
Through a form right on the listing: name, contact details and a message. The application is sent by email to the employer under the name of your job board, and the employer gets back to the candidate directly. Whether applicants need an account is up to you in the concept.
Can I check listings before they appear?
Yes. You state in the concept that new employers or new listings only become visible after your approval. The build then creates an admin role with a review area: approve or reject listings, block accounts, maintain categories.
What happens when a listing expires?
Every listing has a duration that you set in the concept, for example 30 days. After that it disappears from search and list but stays in the employer's account and can be renewed against a new payment. A reminder email before expiry is possible if the concept calls for it.
Can I add another payment model or new fields later?
Yes, by chat with your product's editor. You write, for example, that employers can book a yearly subscription next to the single listing. The preview updates, and you put the change live when it fits. Change runs are included in every plan.
